Police offer reassurance after Hemel school closed following reports of man with weapons
Police have offered reassurance after a Hemel Hempstead primary school closed following reports of a man being seen with weapons.
Hemel Hempstead MP David Taylor has shared what Herts Police told him about an incident which saw Hammond Academy primary school shut and two men detained before their involvement was ruled out.

Herts Police said they were called out at 12.28pm on Thursday to reports of an incident in Cambrian Way, Hemel Hempstead, after it was claimed a man had been seen in possession of what was believed to have been weapons.
But the force has offered reassurance that there is ‘not believed to be an ongiing threat’.
"Officers attended the scene and were supported by the police helicopter as a thorough search of the area was conducted,” police said.
"A local primary school closed as a safety measure whilst police responded to the incident.
"Two men were detained and assisted officers with their enquiries, before it was ascertained that they were not involved.
"Residents may continue to see a police presence whilst officers conduct further enquiries, however, there is not believed to be an ongoing threat and no weapons have been located."
Hemel MP Taylor said: “Thank you to the police, school staff and local residents for their calm response. Please follow official Herts Police updates rather than speculation online.”
