From Mount Olympus to the Boxmoor Playhouse
The gods are descending on Boxmoor this Christmas – and they're bringing plenty of laughter, mischief and mayhem with them!

Hemel Hempstead Theatre Company (HHTC) is preparing for its festive production of Hercules – The Panto, promising a larger-than-life adventure packed with colourful characters, catchy songs, energetic dance routines and all the ingredients of a traditional family pantomime.
Bringing Ancient Greece to life in the heart of Boxmoor is no small task, but the talented cast and crew are certainly rising to the challenge.

Rehearsals are well underway at the Boxmoor Playhouse, with songs being perfected, dance routines taking shape and plenty of laughter along the way.
Director Pavlos North says the collaborative spirit has made rehearsals particularly enjoyable.
“Working so closely with the cast and crew has been hilarious, giving everyone a chance to add their own little moments into this panto.”
Audiences can expect a playful take on Greek mythology, where heroes, gods and villains come together for an adventure full of surprises. Naturally, there will be plenty of opportunities to cheer the goodies, boo the baddies and join in the fun.
Behind the scenes, the production team is working its sandals off to create a spectacular show, complete with eye-catching costumes, larger-than-life personalities and more questionable jokes than anyone should reasonably have to endure. We blame the director. Obviously.
For Pavlos, the production also offers an opportunity to share something of his own festive traditions.
“I’ve been super lucky to grow up with a bit of a Greek twist to my Christmases, and I’m glad I can bring a bit of Greekiness to everyone else’s!”
But pantomime is about more than what happens on stage. It's about families coming together, children experiencing the magic of live theatre and audiences sharing laughter in the run-up to Christmas.
And with catchy songs playing a big part in the production, Pavlos has one particular ambition for audiences.
“If they aren’t singing our lyrics instead of the original ones, then I’ve failed!”
One thing is certain: Mount Olympus is coming to Boxmoor this December, and everyone is invited to join the adventure!
