Climate change may soon be a part of ALL Hertfordshire County Council decisions

The idea was considered at a meeting last week

County councillors may soon be asked to consider the ‘climate emergency’ implications of EVERY decision they make.

Members of the council unanimously backed the declaration of a climate emergency last July (2019).

And now there are plans for all reports requiring a decision to include a section on ‘climate emergency implications’ – to ensure they are taken into account every time a decision is taken.

The idea – initially suggested to a meeting of the full council in February – was considered by a meeting of the performance and resources cabinet panel, on Friday, September 4.

And now the move will be passed to a meeting of the council’s cabinet for final approval.
