Christmas lights switch-on to bring festive fun to Hemel Hempstead
Hemel Hempstead town centre will celebrate the start of the festive season with a free Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday 14 November 2026.
Running from 1pm to 6pm, the event will feature family entertainment, live performances and activities in the pedestrianised High Street and at the Rainbow Stage.
Entertainment will include a fire show, fireworks, ice carving and walkabout acts, including mischievous elves.
Families can also enjoy face painting, balloon modelling and children’s rides.
A children’s show will open the programme on the Rainbow Stage, followed by performances from local singing and dance groups throughout the afternoon.
A food and drink zone will feature stalls from local traders and businesses.
The Christmas lights switch-on will mark the culmination of the afternoon’s festivities.
Visitors can combine the celebrations with Christmas shopping and a chance to meet friends and family in the town centre. Entry to the event is free.
