Hertfordshire County Council has extended the closure of Footpath Hemel Hempstead 76, which runs south from London Road towards the railway for approximately 135 metres.

The closure, authorised under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 with the consent of the Secretary of State, will remain in place until March 11, 2028, or until the works are completed, whichever comes first.

Pedestrians are being diverted via London Road, Russell Place, Catlin Street and Roughdown Road, before crossing Roughdown Common along Footpath 103.

The notice is among a series of temporary road and footpath restrictions announced by the county council to accommodate infrastructure and maintenance works across the area.

Berkhamsted gas works to bring temporary road closures

Four stretches of road in Berkhamsted are due to face temporary closures from November 5 as part of a programme to replace an existing gas main.

The affected roads are Shootersway, Oak Wood and Dennys Lane. The works are scheduled to take five days, with closures applying only at the times indicated by roadside signs.

Diversions will be in place, including routes via Cross Oak Road, the High Street and Kings Road.

Further closures planned across Hemel and nearby villages

Chambersbury Lane in Hemel Hempstead is due to close temporarily from November 9 for utility service works. The affected 45-metre section is expected to require 26 days of work, with traffic diverted via Georgewood Common, Barnacres Road, Hill Common and Market Oak Lane.

Crawley Drive will also face a temporary closure from November 9 for electrical connection works. The five-day programme will affect a 30-metre section south-west of the junction with St Agnells Lane.

Elsewhere, restrictions are planned or have been authorised in Kings Langley, Latimer, Tring, Bulbourne, Berkhamsted and Potten End.

These include closures on The Nap and Blackwell Road/Rectory Lane in Kings Langley, a section of Aylesbury Road in Tring, and Water End Road in Potten End for water connection works.

Station Road in Berkhamsted will also face a temporary closure for wall inspection works, scheduled to last one day.

The council said the road restrictions would apply only when works were taking place and at times indicated by signs on or near the affected roads.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow diversion signs and allow extra time for journeys where necessary.
