90 Years of Memories: St Thomas More invites former pupils back to make history
Berkhamsted school celebrates its 90th anniversary with an alumni reunion, community fundraiser and a time capsule to be opened in 2116.

Do you remember your first day at St Thomas More? Your favourite teacher, school friends or the classroom where it all began?
St Thomas More Catholic Primary School in Berkhamsted is celebrating 90 years at the heart of the community (1936–2026) and is inviting generations of former pupils, parents, teachers, governors and friends back for a special anniversary evening on Friday 13 November, from 7.00 pm to 9.30 pm.
Whether you attended the original school on Kitsbury Road or its current home on Greenway, everyone who has been part of the St Thomas More story is warmly invited to return, reconnect and reminisce.
The evening will include a welcome from Executive Headteacher Alex Sallis, a licensed bar, nibbles, displays of school memorabilia and the opportunity for former pupils to tour the school and revisit their old classrooms.
The event will also raise funds to support the school's future.
Help create a piece of history for the children of 2116
As part of the celebrations, today's pupils are creating a very special time capsule to be buried in the school grounds and opened in 2116, 90 years from now.
The capsule will contain messages and memories from today's children, alongside a selection of historical photographs and stories contributed by former pupils and families.
Imagine being a pupil in 2116, opening the capsule and discovering what school life was like 90, 120 or even 150 years earlier. Seeing the faces, friendships, classrooms and traditions of generations who walked the same corridors before you.
The school is appealing to the community to help bring that history to life.
Do you have old class photographs, school reports, pictures of teachers, school plays or sports days? Perhaps your parents or grandparents attended St Thomas More?
Please send photographs and memories, with approximate dates where possible, to [email protected]
Selected contributions will feature in the anniversary celebrations, with some preserved for future generations in the time capsule.
Alex Sallis, Executive Headteacher, said: "Our 90th anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate everyone who has been part of St Thomas More over the years. We'd love to welcome former pupils and families back, hear their stories and reconnect generations of our school community. And through our time capsule, today's children will leave something truly special for the pupils of 2116."
