David Taylor MP encourages residents to ‘honour’ the service of UK armed forces
David Taylor MP has called for residents in Hemel Hempstead to commemorate the service and sacrifice of those serving in our Armed Forces and veterans this Remembrance Sunday.

This Remembrance Week, communities across the nation will come together to honour those who fought and died so we could live in freedom, in the World Wars and all conflicts since.
Remembrance is a time to thank the entire Armed Forces community, including the men and women who serve today and the families who stand by their sides.
David Taylor MP praised volunteers in Hemel Hempstead who give their time to sell poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion to raise funds for the Armed Forces community, as well as volunteers involved in organising local Remembrance events.
On Sunday 8 November, the annual Remembrance Parade will be taking place in Hemel Hempstead, organised by Dacorum Borough Council in partnership with the Hemel Hempstead branch of the Royal British Legion. The Parade will march from Hemel Hempstead town centre at around 10.30am, concluding at the War Memorial at St John’s Church, Boxmoor, where an outdoor service will be held. Any ex-service personnel wishing to join the Parade are asked to gather at the Rainbow Stage in the Marlowes by 10.15am.
There are nearly 2,400 veterans in Hemel Hempstead, according to Census data.
The Royal British Legion has developed a range of free teaching resources to be used in school or at home, to help connect 5 -14 year olds with Remembrance.
Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, David Taylor MP, said:
“Remembrance is a time to honour and remember those from Hemel Hempstead who gave their lives so that we could live in freedom.
“We pay tribute to all those who have served, and all those who serve today, doing so with the utmost professionalism. They are the very best of our country.
“I know residents in Hemel Hempstead will support the Royal British Legion’s poppy appeal, and remember the contribution of those serving in our Armed Forces past and present.”
Defence Secretary, Wes Streeting MP, said: "I grew up with my grandfather and great-grandfather's war medals proudly on display in our living room. Defence runs in my blood and I feel intently the importance of Remembrance to those who have served and their families.
"This weekend is a moment to pause and reflect on the enormous debt we owe to our Armed Forces, to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedoms, and to thank the personnel keeping us safe tonight.
"We have a moral duty to stand by our veterans and the military families who sacrifice so much. They are the best of us, and we owe them our support as well as our gratitude and admiration."
