Hemel Hempstead HGV drivers hope to raise £2,000 for The Hospice of St Francis

A group of HGV drivers from Hemel Hempstead will be cycling from London to Brighton to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis in memory of their friend.

The Gist drivers will be riding off road on Saturday, Septmeber 5, the hospice was a charity that was very dear to their friend Mark, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Jason Horwood, Kevin Gookey, Carl McCabe and Cezary Cowalski - who all work for Gist in Hemel Hempstead - will be taking on the challenge and Richard Reilly will be providing support by driving the vehicle with the spare parts and transporting the riders to starting point and bringing riders and bikes back the next day.

Richard said: "We are trying to raise money in memory of a colleague who sadly passed away earlier this year.

"We are trying to raise £2000 if possible, the ride is called Cake Ride For Mark in memory of our colleague Mark Gatty."

On the Just Giving page it says: "Mark worked in Hemel transport as a clerk and raised vast amounts of money for the Hospice of St Francis.

"He took part in many cycle rides, including from Land's End to John O'Groats and London to Paris. Sadly, he passed away earlier this year and this ride is in memory of him."
