Performers come together to celebrate a century of musical theatre in landmark concert
More than 100 singers, performers and musicians will take to the stage this autumn for A Celebration in Song, a landmark concert marking the centenary of Berkhamsted Theatre Company.

The concert will be staged at Berkhamsted’s Centenary Theatre on 31 October and 1 November 2026 and will be led by acclaimed West End performer and director David Rhys alongside West End Soprano and choir director Jill Neenan.
The event will celebrate 100 years of community theatre as well as the second year of The Sing Out Project, a community singing initiative focused on the positive impact of music and performance on confidence, wellbeing and social connection.

Research has consistently shown that group singing can improve mental wellbeing, reduce feelings of loneliness and strengthen social bonds, highlighting the role music can play in bringing communities together. Proceeds from the concert will support the work of local mental health charity Mind Herts Network.
Performers from community choirs, theatre groups and local music organisations across Berkhamsted, Watford, Tring, Aylesbury, Wendover, Wing and the surrounding areas will come together for the production, celebrating a century of creativity, collaboration and community spirit.
Audiences will be taken on a journey through the history of musical theatre, featuring songs from some of the world’s best-loved shows. From timeless classics to contemporary favourites, A Celebration in Song promises an evening of music, nostalgia and live performance.
David Rhys of Berkhamsted Theatre Company said:

“Reaching our centenary is a remarkable milestone and gives us the opportunity to celebrate everyone who has helped shape Berkhamsted Theatre Company over the past 100 years. Our company has always been about bringing people together through a shared love of theatre, and A Celebration in Song captures that spirit perfectly. We are delighted to be working with The Sing Out Project on what promises to be a memorable and fitting celebration of our centenary year.”
Jill Neenan, co-founder of The Sing Out Project, said:
“At The Sing Out Project, we believe ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things through singing. Music has an incredible ability to build confidence, forge friendships and strengthen communities. Partnering with Berkhamsted Theatre Company for its centenary felt like a natural collaboration because we share the same belief in the power of performance to bring people together. A Celebration in Song is about far more than the music. It celebrates community, creativity and the lasting magic of live theatre."
As Berkhamsted Theatre Company begins its second century and The Sing Out Project continues to grow, A Celebration in Song will look to the future as well as the past, celebrating the talent, enthusiasm and creativity continuing to flourish across the local performing arts community.
