On Wednesday 15 July, Oakleaf Primary School held its first ever community litter pick, bringing together pupils, parents and carers to help make the local area cleaner and greener.

Children took part in year group teams, setting off at allocated times wearing high-visibility vests and armed with litter pickers and rubbish bags. Parents and carers were invited to join the event, and it was wonderful to see families working together as they collected litter from around the community.

The event was not only a fantastic way to help keep the neighbourhood clean, but also provided children with an opportunity to get outdoors, enjoy a walk in nature and learn about the importance of caring for their local environment.

An impressive six large bin bags of rubbish were collected throughout the day, making a real difference to the area. The school would also like to extend a special thank you to Dacorum Borough Council for kindly lending the litter pickers and providing the bin bags, helping to make the event possible.

Well done to everyone at Oakleaf for such a successful community initiative and for showing what can be achieved when a community works together.
