Following the club’s recent success at the Manchester Box Cup, where Mamba boxers won two golds, the club’s schoolboy and junior squad produced another impressive set of performances last weekend.

One boxer competed in the Manchester Box Cup’s Elite Open Class, while four others travelled to compete in the Midlands Box Cup.

Harrison King produced one of the standout performances of the weekend, winning the Elite Open Class title at 46kg.

King defeated the highly rated John Boy Fury, nephew of former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, in the semi-finals before going on to secure a unanimous decision victory in the final and claim gold.

At the Midlands Box Cup, Samir Omid (50kg) and Kai Paice (40kg) both won golds after overcoming opponents who had significantly more boxing experience.

Both boxers showed tremendous determination, skill and composure throughout the tournament to emerge as champions.

The results continue a remarkable season for Mamba BC, which has enjoyed success across its schoolboy, junior, youth and senior squads.

The club’s coaching team of David Davidson, Kingsley Walker, Joseph Icarangal and Rudi Davidson have praised the commitment shown by all of the boxers throughout the season.

Coach Joseph Icarangal said: “We are incredibly proud of what all of our boxers have achieved this season.

"Winning tournaments is the reward, but what people don’t always see is the hard work that goes on behind the scenes – the training sessions, the running, the sacrifices, making weight, and the discipline required week after week.

“The coaching team works closely together, and we are all proud of every boxer who has represented the club this season. These achievements belong to the whole team, and hopefully this is just the beginning of even greater things to come.”

The club believes this has been its most successful season to date since opening its doors and is looking forward to building on that success in the coming season.

Mamba BC welcomes people of all ages and abilities who would like to try boxing, whether their goal is fitness, confidence, competition or simply learning a new skill. New members are always welcome, and first sessions are free.
