Pupils from Years 7 to 12 took part in the UK wide competition organised by the not-for-profit organisation Primary Engineer. Entrants were challenged to identify an engineering problem in the world around them and then draw and annotate a solution, answering the question: 'If you were an engineer, what would you do?'

In total, 66 Kings Langley School students achieved a pass, merit or distinction for their work, while a smaller number were shortlisted and invited to exclusive judging days. All entries were assessed by engineering professionals and marked on both the quality of the idea and the problem it sought to solve.

The competition received over 70,000 entries and Primary Engineering held a total of 25 regional exhibitions and award ceremonies across the UK, with two winners selected in each year group from every region. The shortlisted Kings Langley School students attended their regional awards ceremony at the Institute of Technology, Milton Keynes University Campus, where five students were named winners and two received highly commended awards.

Ms Scanlan Learning Area Leader of Technology at Kings Langley School, said: "As a school we are incredibly proud of all the students who took part in this year's Primary Engineer competition. Their success reflects not only their creativity and problem-solving abilities, but also their willingness to think innovatively about real-world challenges. Opportunities such as these inspire young people to explore STEM subjects and develop skills that will serve them well in the future."

Primary Engineer is a national educational programme that promotes engineering and technology through practical problem-solving challenges, helping young people to develop creativity, innovation and an understanding of how engineering can improve everyday life.

The awards celebrate the ingenuity and engineering potential of young people across the UK, making this year's results a significant achievement for Kings Langley School and further demonstrating the strength of its STEM provision.
