Tring beaten by Cockfosters as Ali lands the knock-out blow
Tring Athletic lost 1-0 at Cockfosters last night with the decisive goal scored by Adem Ali four minutes before half-time.
Tring were the better side in the first half but didn’t take their chances.
Although Athletic pressurized Cockfosters in the last 15 minutes of the game, Julian Robinson’s side couldn’t force a deserved equaliser.
The nearest the visitors came was when Kevin McManus hit the post with a header from a corner.
The result sees Cockfosters move up to second in the table while Tring are languishing fourth from bottom.
Athletic just need a morale boosting win to give their young side a lift and kick-start the season.
They have the chance to do that on Saturday at home to Hadley.
