Tabor is a Tudor after surprise Swindon Town switch

The Tudors have landed one of non-league’s most ruthless talents

The phenomenal non-league record of Jake Tabor will be on display at Hemel Town next season after securing the striker from Swindon Town.

Parting with an undisclosed fee to bring the 22-year-old to the Focus Community Arena, Tabor is no slouch when it comes lower league football.

Known for his time at Amersham Town, the front man hit 107 goals in just 72 appearances, drawing attention from the Robins last summer.

Impressing manager Ian Holloway in a trial, Tabor signed a deal at the County Ground and he made 14 appearances for the League Two outfit last season.

He also made appearances for Bath City and Eastleigh on loan last term.

However, he has been snapped up by Hemel for their National League South campaign, someone head of recruitment Joe Pope has called their number one summer target.

He said: “This is one that has been bubbling away in the background and one that we have had to be patient with over the summer, as we have been chasing him ever since I came in and is someone that Lee knows well and thinks very highly of. For us to be able to land him, I think it is a real statement of intent.

“Jake is a proper 'fox in the box' type. His goal in the game against Hendon is typical of the type of goals that he scores and what he will bring to this side; that knowhow of being in the right place at the right time, and good positioning between the posts.”

Also raiding the EFL has seen the club sign QPR U21s attacking midfielder Archie O’Brien, initially on loan for 28 days.

O’Brien signed for QPR 18 months ago from Hertford Town and spent time on loan last season at Hanwell Town.

Pope added: “QPR don't often go too far wrong when it comes to young players, one of the best in the country.

“They signed him off the back of a good spell in non-league and one that they identified as being hugely talented, and we concur with that.”
