“It was important we did not get beaten,” said Brennan. “We showed fantastic bravery and character in the second half.

“Our supporters were our 12th man and I felt there was a great togetherness around the club on Saturday.

“The players’ work ethic and desire was top class, and our supporters got right behind the team to give us a real boost to get a result from the game.”

Brennan was pleased with the football shown by his side, especially the move which led to the equalising goal from James Simmonds.

“We scored a fantastic team goal,” said the Berko boss. “There was some slick passing through midfield, started and finished by Simmo who lobbed their goalie from a wide angle.

“We finished very strongly and could have won the game late on with James Potton hitting the inside of the post.

“Our substitutes made a very positive impact, and the team showed very good mental and fitness strength.”

Brennan isn’t getting carried away with the result, but says the signs are positive.

“I can’t predict the future, but I what I do know is our players will give their all when it comes to working hard for each other and the team,” he said. “We have a very honest group of players with a good attitude to work.”
