The departures stretched an already-depleted Hemel squad, but Brennan said that he could not stand in the way of Oli, 32, making the move.

“They offered Dennis a contract for next season and we couldn’t guarantee him a full contract for the whole of next season so we sat down face-to-face and had a man-to-man conversation about it,” said the Hemel boss.

“Dennis has got a family to feed, it’s that simple. We thank Dennis for everything he has done for us, because he led by example and his work-rate was phenomenal.

“He had a lot of injuries during his time with us, but he always handled himself very well and he worked his socks off for us. We wish him all the best for the future.”
