Dominant Crown & Sceptre clinch the Hemel Hempstead Table Tennis League title

James Dance, Gary Keers and Alan Thomas all claimed maximums, before the team enjoyed back-to-back 8-2 wins over Flamstead A and Row; Thomas adding two maximums to his tally and Keers and Dance bagging another one each.

Adeyfield I moved into second place with two 7-3 victories over Crown & Sceptre A and Row – Mike Boardman and Dave Wackrill starring against Row, with Ken Stonebridge hitting a treble for Crown.

Adeyfield had to settle for a 5-5 draw with St Michaels, for whom Vadym Krevs hit a maximum. St Michaels then had Martin Livesey and Mike McGarry to thank for an 8-2 victory over Flamstead A.

Crown & Sceptre A had a comfortable 8-2 win against Flamstead I, with Alan Jones and Ken Stonebridge doing the damage, but Flamstead responded well in a 5-5 draw with Row thanks largely to the efforts of Angela Smith.

Crown A then beat Flamstead A 7-3 thanks to another Jones maximum, while Crown & Sceptre B had Abdul Rahim to thank for a 5-5 draw with Flamstead A.

In Division Two, champions Adeyfield A kept their 100 per cent record in tact with a close 6-4 victory over Crown & Sceptre C as Les Leech hit a maximum.

Crown C then drew 5-5 with St Georges I as Alex Hamilton hit a hat-trick, while second placed Northchurch clinched promotion with an 8-2 victory over Crown C as Paul Rickard and Frank Beck took starring roles.

St Georges I had two comfortable victories over Flamstead B (9-1) and KLCC I (7-3), with Bob Saupan, Jackie Channell and Chris Ward all hitting maximums.

A treble from XinJun-Wang saw McAlpine safely home with a 7-3 win against Adeyfield B, but Adeyfield bit back with an 8-2 success against KLCC I thanks to Trevor McFarlane and Mariusz Puczynski.

Meanwhile, Flamstead C have been confirmed as Division Three champions after an 8-2 success at Crown & Sceptre D, with Roy Lambden taking the honours.

Second placed St Georges A are on the verge of sealing runners-up spot after a mixed bag of results. They had a 7-3 win over KLCC A thanks to a Harry Hook treble, a 5-5 draw with Crown D courtesy of a Gary Everington hat-trick, and a 6-4 loss against Northchurch A, for whom Matt Rogers hit a maximum.

Third placed Highfield closed the gap with a 9-1 win against Northchurch A and an 8-2 victory over Northchurch A – Colin Parslow hit two maximums while Mark Chiles helped himself to a treble. Chiles also hit a maximum in a 5-5 draw with KLCC A.

Northchurch B lost 10-0 to their A team and were also beaten 6-4 by Crown & Sceptre D, for whom Terry Marsh hit a maximum.

Finally, Adeyfield C won a double points fixture 8-2 against Northchurch B thanks to Bob Andrews and Jon Summers.
