During their tour of the birthplace of paper’s industrial revolution, the students were given a lecture by Keith Barnes, chairman of leading UK trade body The Packaging Society, on the challenges of papermaking in different contexts.

Students were shown the historic Fourdrinier machines, now over 100 years old and lovingly cared for by the Apsley Paper Trail charity, which is open for visits from the public on Thursdays and Sundays.
