Hemel-based Home Instead Senior Care hosted gift collection points at Sainsbury's in Apsley and Tesco in Tring and Jarman Park, where customers donated chocolates, biscuits, slippers and beauty and wellbeing sets.

All the donated items were then gift wrapped by the team at Home Instead and delivered to pensioners at Adeyfield Coffee Mates, Tuesday Club, Centre in the Park and The Heather Club.

Rosie Braddon, recruitment and support manager at Home Instead, said: “Every year, we are always overwhelmed by the generosity of the local community who donate to our ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ gift giving campaign and this year is no exception. I would like to thank everyone who has donated a gift this year, helping older people feel less lonely over the festive season.”

“Home Instead would also like to offer a heartfelt thanks to all the staff and customers at Tesco and Sainsbury’s for supporting our really worthwhile cause. It really helped to ensure that many more seniors received a thoughtful gift over Christmas,” Rosie added.
