More than 1,000 stones were decorated by members of the public

A community project in Hemel Hempstead has now been embedded into the park behind Leverstock Green's shops.

Over 1,000 stones have been decorated by members of the public and added to 'Sid' - a long snake that was created along the walkway between Grasmere Close and Crossfell Road.

Karen Gates, from Leverstock Green, and her children nine-year-old Lily, and four-year-old Harry started the project by putting the snake's head down with a message 'let’s have some fun and lets see how long we can make him’.

Last week, 'Sid the Snake' was embedded into the park behind the shops.

Karen said: "It is amazing that so many people got involved, I feel chuffed to have been a part of this.

"To think that we now have this piece of art created by so many different people that we can all be proud of for years to come makes me smile, a lot!

"It makes me proud to be part of such a fantastic community and how important to people’s well-being it is to come together at times like this."

"I love all the stones, as each one tells its own story, I do really like the ones with positive messages though as they send good vibes.

"I don’t think I’ll ever tire of walking up and down Sid looking at them all!"
