Abandoned deaf cat searches for furever home after more than YEAR at Hertfordshire shelter

A young deaf cat who was found abandoned in a box is now looking to find her furever home, say the RSPCA.

One-year-old Demi was found abandoned in an alleyway and was taken into the care of RSPCA Middlesex North West and South Hertfordshire branch in September 2018.

She is a friendly and affectionate cat and despite being deaf.

The feline is looking for a home where she can go outside as she gets stressed if restricted.

Cheryl O’ Keefe, animal welfare administrator at the branch, said: “Poor Demi has not had a good start in life after being abandoned.

"We don’t know why no one has given her a loving new home yet as she is so friendly and affectionate.

"She will need a home with safe outdoor access preferably in a quiet area with little traffic as she is deaf.

“She’d be best suited to an adult-only home without any other pets so she can be the centre of attention.”

Cats are the most rescued animal by the charity’s officers.

Cheryl added: “It is a sad fact that some people feel the need to abandon their animals. We’d always urge anyone who is struggling to cope with their pets to seek help instead.”
