Owner Carol Houlihan said: “I find myself when I sit here looking at all these lovely animals - all friends and happy and healthy.

“Looking at Tonto, remembering the day that I first saw his sad-looking face, the words the vets said the day he arrived. They said he would not last two weeks. Well he proved them wrong, eight years on and he is still going strong.

“These animals deserve the best and now I am struggling, but I am trying to fight for each and every one of them.

“I will do my best to keep all of them together as one big happy family.”

Carol estimates that the animals taken by the charity includes 119 horses and ponies plus 26 feral cats.

However there are a number of costs involved in takingin for the various
animals and caring for them.

Carol added: “Some of them have overcome their past and have been turned into a loving and beautiful creature which has gone onto being loved and cherished.

“Then comes the bit that everyone then says - if only I could have done something more to save you, tried that bit harder, maybe got to you sooner, than maybe you may have stood a chance.

“I know I can’t save them all. But knowing I tried my hardest, it makes me more determined to help and save more.”
