As the lockdown eases and more businesses re-open their doors the council is asking people to continue to follow government guidance

Dacorum Borough Council is reminding residents to continue to follow Public Health guidance and respect the safety measures in place at pubs, restaurants and hairdressers across the borough.

The majority of premises have made significant changes to the way they operate to make their venues as safe for customers as possible whilst the threat presented by coronavirus still remains very much present.

Therefore it is important that everyone follows the guidance in place to ensure people enjoy themselves safely.

The Council’s key tips are:

- Do not go out to sociable settings if you are displaying any of the symptoms that have been associated with Coronavirus.

- Continue to wash your hands regularly when you are out, and use hand sanitiser when washing hands frequently is not practicable.

- When socialising outside your household or bubble, maintain a distance of 2m, where this is not practicable 1m plus mitigation (taking additional precautions)

- Follow the controls put in place in venues and listen to guidance from the staff.

Cllr Andrew Williams, Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Corporate and Contracted Services, said: “The Government is constantly reminding people to stay alert, and this means things like obeying any instructions given by the staff at these venues, and ensuring that everyone takes personal responsibility and do all they can to prevent the spread of the virus as their lives become more sociable.

“We have been working closely with businesses and partners to help the reopening run smoothly, but we need everyone to play their part to make it a success and keep everyone safe.

“The Government has warned that should there be a reverse in the improvements seen in the infection rate restrictions could be increased again.

"So it is important that we all continue to be alert to the fact that the virus has not gone away and if we want these entertainment venues to remain open, we all need to maintain a cautious approach to socialising in them."
