Where will the flu clinics be located?

The flu vaccination clinic will be offered at several locations over the next four weeks, including Preston, Reading and Bath, with further sites also being added to the programme.

Existing and new Pharmacy2U patients can book appointments on the company’s website.

The vaccinations will be carried out by a team of pharmacists, with trained St John Ambulance first aiders also providing support at the drive through centres. All team members will be wearing the appropriate PPE and adhering to Covid-19 measures.

Graham Ellis, Community Operations Manager for St John Ambulance, said, “St John Ambulance is proud to partner with Pharmacy2U in providing this vital service. Our treatment centres and fully trained first aiders will be supporting pharmacists to give patients their all-important flu jab, close to home and in a Covid secure setting.

Who is eligible for the flu jab?

If suitable, anyone can get the flu jab, but some may have to pay to get it privately, whereas people of a certain age, those with certain medical conditions, and frontline or social care workers are offered it for free on the NHS.

This year the flu vaccine is being offered on the NHS to:

adults 65 and overpeople with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)pregnant womenpeople living with someone who's at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)children aged 2 and 3 on 31 August 2020children in primary schoolchildren in year 7 (secondary school)frontline health or social care workers

Some pharmacies also offer free NHS flu vaccination to adults and social care workers in the categories listed above, but they do not usually offer this service for children. You should also have the flu vaccine if you're a healthcare or social care worker who is directly involved in patient care.
