Covid-19 latest: Dacorum records two new positive cases in the last 24 hours

Dacorum recorded two new positive Covid-19 cases today (May 19).

The total for the borough is now 8,620, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

On Tuesday, Public Health England revised historical case data in England.

On it's website, it said the introduction of a new system disrupted the removal of cases where a positive rapid lateral flow test was followed by all negative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests taken within 3 days. These 4,776 cases have now been removed. Newly-reported cases for the UK and England were unaffected.

In Dacorum, 27 cases were removed from Monday's figure (8,640) by Public Health England, and in Hertfordshire 120 cases were removed.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days has decreased from 13.6 per 100,000 to 11.6 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending May 14).

On May 12, the incidence rate was 15.5 per 100,000 population (the 7 days ending May 7).

In Hertfordshire, 25 new cases were recorded today - the total is now 77,264.

Here's a daily breakdown of the figures in Dacorum for the last seven days:

> May 17 - three cases

> May 18 - five cases.

According to Public Health England there were two confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, May 11, and no patients were on a mechanical ventilation bed.

There have been no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is 321, according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

In the UK, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 2,696 to 4,452,527. The number of deaths has risen by three to 127,694.

As of May 18, in the UK, 36,985,505 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 20,870,453 had received their second dose.

And in Dacorum, 85,236 people had received their first dose of the vaccination and 46,056 people had received their second dose.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Monday, May 17, and 5pm on Tuesday, May 18.
