Coronavirus latest: Dacorum records 48 new cases today

Dacorum has recorded 48 new positive Covid-19 cases today (January 27).

The total for the borough is now 7,205, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

The incidence rate over the last 7 days is 346.3 per 100,000 population (the period represented is the 7 days ending January 22).

There have been 506 new cases in Hertfordshire, the total is now 66,343.

According to Public Health England there were 302 confirmed COVID-19 patients in West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust - which manages hospitals in Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans - on Tuesday, January 19, and 21 were on mechanical ventilation beds.

There have been eight new deaths recorded in Dacorum, the total is now 252, and there have been 57 new deaths in Hertfordshire, the total is now 1,942 - according to Public Health England (deaths within 28 days of positive test).

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases has risen by 25,308 and now stands at 3,715,054. The number of deaths has risen by 1,725 to 101,887.

As of January 26, in the UK, 7,164,387 people had received the first dose of the vaccination for COVID-19, and 474,156 had received their second dose. ​In the East of England, 771,262 had received their first dose and 53,705 people had received their second dose of the vaccination.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from Covid-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Monday, January 25, and 5pm on Tuesday, January 26.
