Local care home launches annual Christmas foodbank and toy drive
Staff and residents are proud to announce the launch of its second annual Christmas food bank and toy drive for The Food Shed in Stevenage.
Following the incredible generosity of last years campaign the home is once again inviting the local community to come together and help make a meaningful difference to families in need this festive season.
With the rising cost of living continuing to affect many households, The Food Shed provides vital support to local families ensuring they have access to essential food items and gifts for children which are documented in the Reverse advent Calendar Wish List. The team are Iris Court are passionate about giving back, and the care home is delighted to continue this tradition of kindness, and community Christmas spirit for its second year.
Community members who are able to spare a few items or donations are warmly invited to drop them off at Iris Court Care Home, all items needed will be detailed by the Food Shed for there Reverse Advent Calendar 2025 and will be delivered to The Food Shed for the 19th December.
Home Services Advisor Cassie Hinton commented: “Everyone at Iris Court is very much aware that lots of people are finding it difficult to feed themselves and their families this year and we all wanted to help in whatever way we can. We wanted to collect as much food and other useful products as possible to help those less fortunate than ourselves so it’s wonderful to see how amazingly generous everyone has been”
General Manager, Tash Begum, said: “We all had the same feeling that we had to do something to help others so we got together with People for People and started to collect food and other useful products to donate to the community with all donations going to the food shed in Stevenage to be distributed in time for Christmas!. Thank you to all our staff and families who donated towards this very worth cause!”
