Hemel Hempstead garden centre announces 'clearance sale' ahead of potential demolition
A garden centre in Hemel Hempstead has announced a major sale ahead of its anticipated closure in early 2027.
Hillier Garden Centre on Leighton Buzzard Road is completing a ‘clearance sale’ before it closes its doors in January 2027.
Earlier this year the garden centre’s closure was revealed by other businesses using the site. They were informed that Hillier was planning to shut the site in the first month of next year.
A planning application is also currently being reviewed by Dacorum Borough Council which if approved would lead to the demolition of the trading complex.

RVL Properties is looking to replace the centre with a storage or distribution hub. Hillier says the sale marks the start of a significant stock clearance.
The company revealed that hundreds of products will be available at a reduced price. “Visitors can expect to find great value across selected plants, gardening products, outdoor living ranges and seasonal items, with further reductions and new offers expected to be introduced as the clearance continues,” the company which runs 22 centres said.
A spokesperson from Hillier said: “This is a great opportunity for our customers and the local community to pick up some great bargains. We have hundreds of lines included in the clearance and there will be plenty more offers to discover as we continue to clear stock over the coming months. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued custom and their support of the Hemel Hempstead team as we prepare to close.”
