After a well deserved summer break, Herts Roller Derby came back strong for an open-door game against the Brighton Rockerbillies. The game was part of a double header held at the Dolphin Leisure Centre in Haywards Heath.

After a thrilling opener between Brighton C-Side and Liverpool Roller Birds Slambananas, which was interrupted by a fire alarm, it was time for Herts to get on track in the second game.

Herts and Brighton were evenly matched and, with strong blockers and jammers, the game was close all the way to the finish. Herts pulled ahead with a lead change at the start of the second half and won the game 137:94. Afterwards both teams celebrated with a lap and high-fives for the crowd, before handing out awards for the Best Blocker, Best Jammer, and MVP for each team.

Herts Roller Derby are gearing up for the next round of the Five Nations Roller Derby Championship. They will be playing in Tier 4 with the goal of maintaining their position in the top half of the league table.

Roller Derby is a fast-paced sport played on quad roller skates. The game is played on an oval track in two 30-minute halves, with 4 blockers and 1 jammer from each team playing on track at a time. Jammers score points by lapping opposing blockers, and the team with the most points wins.
