The Girlguiding Journey is an 80m² show feature garden exploring how girls aged 4 to 18 grow in confidence, environmental awareness and leadership through outdoor learning.

Designed by Norfolk‑based garden designer Dominique Rudd, supported by 3D illustrator Becky Sheppard, the garden includes a wildflower meadow, wildlife habitats created by young members, a Grow Your Own badge learning bench and a woodland area inspired by guiding camps.

At its heart will be a bespoke iron bench engraved with the Girlguiding Promise, which will be handmade by Wrought Iron and Brass Bed Co., Royal Warrant‑holding manufacturers based on the Sandringham Estate.

Preparations for the garden are already underway, with Girlguiding Anglia members beginning to create natural features for the final design. These activities give young people a hands‑on role in shaping the garden and reinforce the project’s focus on learning through nature.

The garden’s themes also align with broader findings about the value of outdoor spaces for young people. The RHS State of Gardening Report 2025 found that 87% of children say gardens bring joy through the calm of nature, adding wider context to the garden’s purpose.

Following the RHS Sandringham Flower Show, the garden will be relocated to Hautbois Activity Centre in Norfolk, where it will become a permanent outdoor learning space for Girlguiding Anglia members for years to come.
