David Taylor MP welcomes Labour’s “Great British Summer Savings” to help families and support local businesses in Hemel Hempstead
VAT to be cut to 5% on children’s meals and family attractions
Free bus travel for 5–15 year olds and reduced children’s ticket prices to help families this summer
Measures will also support local businesses and high streets across Hemel Hempstead
The Labour MP for Hemel Hempstead, David Taylor, has welcomed a new package of measures from the Chancellor designed to help families with the cost of living while supporting local businesses across Hemel Hempstead.

The plans will deliver “Great British Summer Savings” for families, helping parents afford meals out, day trips and activities during the school holidays after years of cost-of-living pressures.
Measures announced by the Government include a temporary cut in VAT to 5% on children’s meals and tickets for cinemas, theatres, theme parks and soft play centres. The package also includes free bus travel for 5–15 year olds, reduced children’s ticket prices, support to lower food costs and an extension of fuel duty cuts until the end of the year.
The measures will also support local businesses and hospitality venues by increasing footfall and helping bring more customers through the door.
Labour says the plans are being delivered alongside falling inflation and continued economic growth, helping working families feel the benefits of greater economic stability.
David Taylor, Labour MP for Hemel Hempstead, said:
“After years of cost-of-living pressures, families across Hemel and the Villages deserve the chance to enjoy the summer without worrying about every penny.
“Labour’s Great British Summer Savings will help working parents with the cost of meals out, travel and family activities, while backing local businesses and high streets at the same time.
“This is a Government focused on putting more money into working people’s pockets and making sure families feel the benefits of economic stability in their everyday lives.”
