The proposed “Gateway” scheme, led by Network Rail’s development arm Platform4 with Cityheart as development partner, aims to transform the station area into a modern transport hub while unlocking brownfield land for around 122 new family homes, a 480-space multi-storey car park, and upgraded public realm.

David Taylor MP said: “Hemel’s station redevelopment is a key opportunity for our town – delivering new family homes, improving the station environment, and creating a better gateway for visitors and commuters.

This project has faced delays due to the pandemic and wider market conditions, but it remains a vital piece of infrastructure and economic development. I am pleased that Rail Minister Lord Hendy continues to be supportive to help push this forward.

While there are still issues to work through to unlock the wider development, I will continue to work closely with Platform4, Cityheart, and the council to ensure Hemel gets the station and development it needs.”
