Bovingdon pupils get creative for Taylor Wimpey’s welcome card competition

Taylor Wimpey North Thames challenged local pupils to give a warm welcome to new residents through their creative talents with a welcome card competition.

Bovingdon Primary Academy pupils were tasked with designing welcome cards, with the winning designs being given to residents moving into their new homes at housebuilder’s Bovingdon Grange Meadows development in Bovingdon.

After reviewing the designs, the Taylor Wimpey team chose Year 3 pupil Rhea’s colourful card featuring a cat welcoming residents to the development as the winner. The runners up were Olive (Year 3) and Tyler (Year 2). All three pupils received Amazon prize vouchers as a thank you for their outstanding entries and the school also received a £250 donation from the housebuilder.

Kirstie McHale, Office manager at Bovingdon Primary Academy, said: “The children were delighted to take part in the welcome card design competition for the new housing development in our community. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get creative, designing colourful and imaginative cards that reflected their ideas and artistic talents.

“There was great excitement across the school as the children worked hard on their designs, and it was clear how much they loved being involved in the project. The entries were fantastic, which we can imagine made it very difficult for the judges to choose the final winners.

“The winning pupils were thrilled to be selected and were very pleased to receive their vouchers as a reward for their brilliant designs. We are very proud of all the children who took part and represented the school so well with their enthusiasm and creativity.”

Jason Turner, Sales Manager at Taylor Wimpey North Thames said: "We are thrilled to have hosted this creative competition with Bovingdon Primary Academy. It's been heartening to see the creativity and enthusiasm of the children and we are proud to contribute to the development of artistic skills within the community and are glad to hear that the children also enjoyed taking part in our competition. These designs will make for the perfect warm welcome for Bovingdon Grange Meadows’ new residents."
