Elsewhere, the men’s fifth team won their second game in two weeks with a narrow 1-0 victory against Welwyn. Brian de Mattos rolled back the years with a neat finish to score the only goal of the game.

On the ladies’ side of the club, the second XI got back to winning ways with a dominant performance against Bedford. The 4-0 win sees them go top of the league, three points clear of Stevenage.

The ladies’ 1s were very below par in their local derby against Tring, but they still managed a 2-2 draw, while the men’s 1s earned a 2-2 draw against top of the table Wapping. If it wasn’t for a debatable equaliser at the end, Berko would have secured a deserved victory.

In action elsewhere, the ladies’ 4s played out a thrilling 5-5 draw against Welwyn Garden City. Goals came from Kate Goodwyn (2), Lizzie Clouston, Emma Simmonds and Ruby Lloyd.
