Tring men continue to fly high in second place after big win

With several injuries and centre-half Max Baiden unavailable, Tring were fielding a new look side this week.

It was apparent to the opposition, umpires and spectators that this group had not played together before, and the first half was littered with basic mistakes and errant passes.

Having come out for the second half struggling at 1-1, Tring began to show glimpses of decent form in regaining the lead, but there was little fluency in the scrappy performance.

The 4-1 final score made the game sound more one-sided than was actually the case.

There was a debut goal for Steve Dutch and yet another goal for Sam Highfield - making it four goals in four consecutive games. Chris Pedrick and Bruce Alexander were also on the score sheet.

There was further good news for the team elsewhere in the league, with third-placed Ramgarhia losing to Oxford to give Tring some breathing room in second.

Meanwhile, the Tring men’s 2s played Milton Keynes 4s needing a win to take them out of the bottom two.

After five games unbeaten hopes were high, but selection issues meant a much changed team.

Tring tried hard throughout, but Milton Keynes had the edge and superior finishing earned them a 4-1 win.
