Road Runner Duncan takes 10th place in Green Man Ultra Marathon

Dacorum & Tring AC Road Runners were in competition all over the country – and in Europe – in a wide variety of distances at the weekend.

Duncan Hamilton finished as 10th man overall in the 44-mile Green Man Ultra Marathon in Bristol in an impressive time of 7:48:43.

He said the race was ‘surprisingly hilly, but with beautiful weather and a picturesque route.’

Elsewhere, team-mates Samantha Hawkridge and Pat Hayball took on shorter distances at the Run Eton series of races at Eton Dorney.

Sam posted a new PB of 26:21 in the 5k race, finishing first in the VF35 category and fourth lady overall, as well as 18th in the overall standings.

Pat cruised around the 10k course to finish in an easy 1h 03m.

Further afield, Manon Pagniez made her debut at the 13.1-mile distance at the Paris Half Marathon, finishing in 1:54:55.

She was delighted with her race, saying: “A year ago I could not even run, and now I’ve run my first ever half marathon. I’m super happy – it all went well and I feel great!”

Closer to home, Debbie Kennard and Jules Robinson finished their first ever 20-mile race at the 2015 Finchley 20, crossing the line in 3:12 and showing that their training for the spring marathon season is well on track.

Another 12 club members took part in the Milton Keyes Festival of Running, which had races over four distances.

In the 5k race, Kirsty Russell, Janice Briggs and Danielle Kerr earned well-deserved medals; for Kirsty, it was the fourth medal of the year so far, while Jan recorded a big PB in her first race back after injury – and Danielle ran her first-ever race.

At the 10k distance, Chris Marriott ran a fantastic new PB of 38:41 to finish 18th overall in the 10k race.

Russell Morris turned in a speedy 41:09 to finish 39th, fast enough for fourth VM40, and Sam Fawcett was not far behind, in a new PB of 41:56 to finish as third senior lady.

Becky Fawcett turned in a post-injury PB, finishing in 45 minutes flat,while Casper Du Buisson posted a huge PB – sneaking in under the 50-minute mark to finish in 49:30.

In the half marathon, Kelly Du Buisson was first over the line for the club in 1:33:23, fast enough for 13th lady overall and ninth senior lady.

The next club member to finish was Ken Perry, who broke the club record for the VM60 age group with his speedy 1:48:14 – the third-fastest time for his age group overall.

Anya Higgins, meanwhile, coasted to a comfortable 2:12:30 finish.

Chris Kitchener ran the 20-mile event – the longest race on offer in Milton Keynes – as he gears up for spring marathon season.

He finished sixth in the VM45 age group in a time of 2:29:52, fast enough for 80th overall out of 612 finishers.

Elsewhere, three of Dacorum & Tring AC’s young athletes travelled to Cofton Park in Birmingham to compete in the UK Counties Athletic Union Cross Country Inter-Counties Championships.

The finish of the day belonged to U13 boy Kristian Imroth, who crossed the line second for Hertfordshire and a 54th overall out of 300 boys in 12:45.

For the U13 girls, Indira Patel finished 248th out of 305 on her county debut in a time of 15:18, while Rhys Rowlands was 220th out of 274 runners in the U17 men’s race in 23:18.

Meanwhile, in the senior women’s race over 8,000m, Alex Eykelbosch ran bravely to finish 131st, after injuring a calf muscle half way through the race.
