It was a scintillating display from the side, with Dawood Iqbal hitting a hat-trick, Paul Dubenski and Tim Duncan notching a brace apiece, and Steve Redman, Freddie Ormerod and Richard Peachey completing the rout.

Elsewhere, the ladies’ first team continued their impressive run of form as they made it five wins and a draw in their last six games to move joint-second in the league.

This week they registered a comfortable 5-0 victory against Hertford with goals from Sarah Brydon (2), Faye Potton (2) and Melissa Morton.

Meanwhile, the men’s 1s have been showing some impressive fight recently and came away with their third draw in five games at the weekend as they shared a six-goal thriller with Colchester.

However, after an unbeaten streak of 26 games, the Berkhamsted ladies’ second XI finally lost a game as they went down 2-1 against Hertford.

The last time that they had lost previously was on March 1 2014 wen they were beaten 3-1 by Saffron Walden – next week they are aiming to bounce back and embark on a similar run.

The men’s 2s, men’s 3s and ladies’ 3s all came out second best against the top teams in their divisions, but in each case they now have chances for more success against weaker opponents over the coming weeks.
