It's a perfect ten for the West Herts juniors

West Herts Junior Hockey Club had a hugely successful day on Sunday '“ playing a total of 10 fixtures and winning all of them.

The U12 boys hosted a round-robin tournament against Milton Keynes, Amersham & Chalfont and Harrow, winning all three matches and being crowned Chiltern League Series 3 champions.

The U12 girls played in a similar tournament, against two teams from Amersham & Chalfont and a third from St Albans. They dominated and won all of their games without conceding any goals.

The U14 boys hosted Amersham & Chalfont in a league fixture and ran out 4-1 winners. Goals were scored by Amaan Manji, Robbie Curwen and Matty Woods, who picked up a brace.

The U14 girls travelled to Gerrards Cross. They were made to work hard for their win, grinding out a 1-0 victory to gain revenge for their loss in the home fixture earlier in the season.

The U16 boys had two matches; the first was a Mercian Regional League playoff fixture, away at Amersham & Chalfont.

Despite three injuries in the week leading up to the game, the West Herts boys produced a scintillating team performance to win by 5 goals to 1.

Scorers were Raphael Allen, Dhillon Dodhia and Tom Watts, who bagged a hat-trick. The boys will travel to Guildford in the next round of the playoffs on Sunday, March 20.

Later on, and after watching the men’s first XI produce a superb performance to beat Sevenoaks, the U16 development team hosted Wycombe. In a tight affair, Tom Milford struck from a tight angle with only four minutes left on the clock and the boys held on for a 1-0 win.
