Tudors seek to confirm play-off place
Hemel Hempstead Town will look to confirm their play-off place in the National League South this weekend – whilst also damaging the title hopes of their opponents.
Saturday’s hosts Torquay were in third place and four points behind leaders Worthing after last weekend’s games, although if Hornchurch beat Chelmsford on Tuesday night (14th) they would have jumped a point ahead of The Gulls.

For Hemel, a win on Saturday could see them confirm their play-off place depending on results elsewhere, with the key positional battle then being the focus when it comes to deciding the play-off matches themselves.
It comes after The Tudors overcame relegated Eastbourne Borough 3-1 at home last Saturday to move within six points of the leaders, although goal difference makes it a virtual impossibility to have any chance of catching them.
Boss Lee Allinson told the club’s media: “It’s a great three points and job done for a thoroughly frustrating afternoon because the game should have been so out of sight.
"It’s the story of our season in being totally dominant in the game but to then go to 1-1 and nearly go to 2-2 but for an incredible save and clearance.
"It then took Isaiah Noel-Williams to finish it off with four seconds to spare.
"That’s the frustration of the group. We were excellent and we’d done everything that was needed, but that game should have been put to bed. Some of the stuff we played was excellent and it just leaves a bit of frustration because if we don’t do that, that will cost us.
"So we need to make sure we bury these chances because that’s two games in a row where we should have been out of sight. But it’s one step to where we need to be and now we move on to the next.
"It’s going to be a fantastic atmosphere against a very good side with a good manager. It’s going to be an extremely tough game and a real slog for us but we’ve got to prepare properly and may look at going down Friday night and making sure we do everything right to prepare for a huge game for the club.”
