'˜They did the club proud, they worked their socks off and they gave it their all'

Tudors boss Dean Brennan hailed the '˜fantastic commitment and desire' shown by his side despite their last-gasp 1-0 defeat to Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday night.

It looked as though the Tudors would return home with a point from their trip across Hertfordshire, but Mikel Suarez pounced in the 90th minute to snatch all three points for the hosts.

“I thought it was a fantastic goal to be honest – what a fantastic cross and a fantastic header,” said Brennan. “Sometimes you’ve just got to hold your hands up and say it’s a great goal.

“Did they deserve to win the game? No they didn’t – anyone who was in the stadium could tell you that. Did we patch a team together and did the boys dig deep? Yes, they did the club proud, they worked their socks off and they gave it their all.

“I think that this is the seventh time that we have conceded after the 90th minute this season so the fact that we are even in the top half of the table is unbelievable.

“But I’m proud of the payers tonight, they gave it their all and showed fantastic commitment and desire for the football club.”

Tuesday night’s war of attrition was a far cry from Saturday night’s 5-5 thriller against Weston-Super-Mare as Hemel were again forced a much changed starting XI

“We have got seven or eight players out right now,” said Brennan. “We brought in a young lad (Audrius Laucys) from Brentford so they did us a favour, as did Ollie Thorne who is a player/coach at Kettering and they didn’t have a game. If I’m being honest, we just patched a team together.”

He added: “We know that Adam Morgan isn’t match-fit so we got 60 minutes out of him.”
