Langley Ladies get off the mark with fine victory over Welwyn GC

The season and a half long wait for a league win is over as a determined Kings Langley Ladies side beat WGC Ladies 2-1 on Sunday to lift themselves off the foot of the table.

In a close first half, Langley had the majority of the chances, with efforts from Kim Nield, Danielle McMullan and Nicole Barrett going close.

At the other end, keeper Abbie Tarsey recovered quickly to gather a loose shot on the goal line.

The second half saw Langley’s persistence pay off with two goals by Rachael Lee, after being played in by McMullan and Barrett.

Langley did ride their luck a little as Welwyn’s finishing was off target when the goal was at their mercy, but despite conceding a goal in stoppage time, they held on for the win.

It’s deja vu on Sunday as Kings travel to face WGC Ladies again.
