Kings Langley Ladies sent crashing out of the County Cup

Kings Langley Ladies’ involvement in the Herts FA Women’s County Cup was ended at the quarter-final stage as a decidedly out of sorts side were ruthlessly thumped 15-0 by Hoddesdon Owls.

Some determined defending – with Abbie Tarsey performing heroics in goal, and Becky Wyatt’s goal line clearance in the first half -–limited the visiting Owls side to a 5-0 advantage at half-time.

The second half saw Langley’s numbers reduced through illness and injury, with the visitors exploiting this in ruthless fashion.

Kings managed a strong finish, with Kim Nield being closed down just as she was pulling the trigger for a goalbound effort, and Sophie Jackson’s run and cross to Fay McMullan ultimately being thwarted.

“They were a high calibre of opponent, but at this stage of the County Cup, you wouldn’t expect anything else” said Langley manager Chris Walker.

“To get to the quarter-final is a massive achievement for this club and one they should be proud off, but now we must fight hard to move up the table.”

With their cup run now over, Kings Langley Ladies now turn their attention back to the league with a home game on Sunday against AFC Kempston Girls & Ladies FC.

The match kicks-off at 2pm at High Street Green, Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead.
