Dean’s delight: Tudors boss Brennan hails players after impressive victory at Eastbourne

Ollie Hawkins put Town ahead in the first half, before skipper Jordan Parkes made sure of the points after the break.

“I felt we controlled the game very well and the players performed to a very high standard,” said Brennan.

“The players’ game management impressed me most. It’s something we have spoken about over the last few weeks, and credit must go to the players who stuck to the game plan and made sure we won.

“I’m always delighted when we keep clean sheets, and that was our third clean sheet in eight games which is not bad.

“For me the players’ attitude to work and willingness to sacrifice for the team was the key to such a strong all round team performance.”

The win put Hemel up to 14th in the Conference South table, and Brennan added: “I feel our identity as a team is to play with a high tempo and also to play with a high level of technical football.

“This is my philosophy as the manager, and Eastbourne Borough’s pitch was excellent which helps our style of play.

“Also I feel we are in the unknown as a football club and our performances as a team have improved game by game.

“Confidence is key to any team or individual player being successful in any sport.

“We have plenty of young players who I believe can be top Conference South players and they must believe in themselves too.”

The Hemel boss reserves special praise for goalscorer Hawkins, but admitted each player impressed him on the day.

“Hawkins was excellent for us up front, but to be honest we had every player on their game,” said Brennan. “The players know this is the standard needed to get positive results week in week out at this level.”
