Former Liverpool striker Adam Morgan '˜never worked hard enough' during his brief stint at Hemel Hempstead Town, according to Tudors manager Dean Brennan.

Morgan, 21, had his contract cancelled after a less-than-impressive one-month stay at Vauxhall Road which saw him fail to find the net once as he struggled to force his way into the starting XI.

The striker’s final Hemel appearance came in last Tuesday’s lacklustre Herts Charity Cup defeat to St Albans at Clarence Park.

Speaking about Morgan’s departure, Brennan said: “The St Albans game was a good opportunity for some of the players to go out there and show us that they are good enough, but a few of them came up short.

“Adam had a chance with us – he started three games but I think he’s only had two shots. You’ve got to work hard, first and foremost.

“All I ask of the players is that first and foremost they work their hardest for their families, and then for their team-mates and then for the football club and the supporters. If they do that, no-one can ever knock them.

“But I’m sorry to say that Adam Morgan was one player who never wanted to work hard enough for us. I’m not trying to kill the lad, I’m just being honest.

“You’ve got to earn the right to play football – nobody’s just going to give you the ball because you’ve got a bit of ability.

“Adam’s going to have to grasp that, otherwise he might find himself out of football.”

Brennan continued: “I hope the kid does grasp it, because he seemed like a decent kid.

“I hope he learns from the lessons he’s had at Hemel, and at Accrington, and at Yeovil and whatever other club’s he’s moved on from.”
