Matheos, who attends Kings Langley Secondary School and is part of the schools Elite Athlete Programme, and Westbrook Hay Prep School pupil Harry helped England to finish an impressive 12th in the competition.

The team lost to eventual winners Japan in the knockout rounds of the competition, but both of the boys were happy with the performance of the team.

The highlight of the tournament was the opportunity to play against the USA team at the Arena Corinthians – a stadium which was used during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

England U12 assistant manager Luke Nicholls said: “Both Harry and Matheos should be very proud of themselves.

“Their dedication and commitment to improving themselves as footballers over the past few years has been an underlying reason for their call-up to represent their country in this tournament.”
