‘A well earned point’ says Tudors manager Brennan

Hemel went in front early on through Oliver Hawkins, but Ebbsfleet hit back with two goals before half-time, leaving Tudors skipper Jordan Parkes to earn a draw with an excellent second half free-kick.

“It was well earned point for us,” said Brennan. “For me a draw was a fair result – in the second half we performed to a high standard and I challenged the players at half-time to show character and win the second half with a second half clean sheet.”

The Tudors boss was particularly impressed by his side’s goalscorers, who are both continuing to enjoy a superb campaign.

“Parkes and Hawkins are key players for the team,” said Brennan. “Both scored again for us yesterday and you need your big players to perform in the big games.

“I also thought Dave King was excellent for us and, after being out injured the majority of the season, he is starting to play the best football he has played under my management.”

Despite his satisfaction at the result, however, Brennan was disappointed with the way in which Ebbsfleet scored their two goals.

“I was very disappointed with the manner of the two goals we conceded, especially after starting the game so well,” said the Hemel boss.

“It was another referee decision not going for us on their second goal; it was clear foul on Jordan Brown and a foul that forced Jordan off injured.

“What is frustrating with that decision is that both the referee and assistant referee were no more than 10 yards from the incident. I do realise they have a tough job but, for me, that was a clear foul.”

Next up for Hemel is a trip to bottom side Staines Town tomorrow night, and Brennan added: “We have to make Saturday’s result a positive one by going to Staines and winning one of our games in hand.

“To be totally honest if we want success this season, this is a must win game and a fantastic challenge for our very young team.”
