Double delight for golden girl Cristy at the Portsmouth Open
The event is the south of England’s premier karate tournament and the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth was packed with competitors and spectators alike.
The SSKI star of the day was 18-year-old Cristy Nash who won the ladies’ individual black-belt titles in both kata (forms) and kumite (free-fighting).

Hide AdTom Carson (17) took home two trophies, coming second in the 16/17yrs male kumite event and third in the men’s black-belt kata.
The Cooper brothers, Christopher and Matthew, both took home bronze medals, and a fourth place kata trophy was won by nine-year-old Crystal Close. Gary Page took a third place trophy in the men’s team kumite.

A new children’s class will be starting in January with one of the country’s most successful children’s instructors, Malcolm Phipps 8th Dan, who has produced a host of world and national champions in his time.
