Alistair Lennon, Scott Norton, Gary Taylor and Kate Measures will be flying the Britannia Kickboxing flag just a few months after the club’s move to its new home in Adeyfield.

Team Britannia is brimming with fresh talent, with three of its members donning the gloves for their first competitive bout and eager to showcase what they can do.

The club ensures that every fighter is ready for the competition and is at the absolute peak of their physical fitness.

Every fighter has dedicated themselves to at least three months of rigorous training, with up to eight gruelling sessions each week and as much as three hours per day.

The fighters have honed their skills alongside other members of the club under the expert guidance of head fitness coach Nick ‘The Boss’ Morrish.

To fuel all this exercise and help cut or gain weight to reach their target weight category, fighters often follow a strict food plan and many will cut out alcohol completely.

With less than a week to go, all the hard work is done. Each fighter is now tapering down to let their bodies prepare for this high-octane event and to avoid any last minute injuries.

Title-winning Shane Bernhauser, head technical coach at the club, has fought nearly 20 times himself. He says: “Fight nights are the highlight of the year. I would recommend anyone thinking of starting kickboxing or boxing, or getting back into it, to come along.

“It’s inspirational to see what you could achieve with hard work and dedication.”

The atmosphere is set to be electric for the fight night on Saturday at Liquid Envy Nightclub in Luton.
