Berkhamsted sides get off to a winning start to pre-season

Ollie Bowman scored the brace for the men's first team in their friendly game against Leighton Buzzard

Berko looked like they had never taken a break and Oli Bowman fired home to put his side 1-0 up.

And it was Bowman who netted the second goal with a cool lob over the keeper to seal a 2-0 win for Berko.

Elsewhere, Roger Payton began pre-season with a hat-trick as a young Berko II team got the better of their Leighton Buzzard counterparts in a 3-0 triumph.

The ladies’ first and second teams joined forced to pick up a solid win against Tring, with the first XI putting Berko 3-0 ahead in the first half before the seconds maintained the three-goal advantage.

Elsewhere, the combined men’s third and fourth team enjoyed an 11-goal thriller that included an Ollie Johnson hat-trick.

With the goals flying in, the final score was an 8-3 win for Berkhamsted, with rising stars Freddie Omerod and Louis Hanwell impressing on their debuts.

Finally, the men’s fifth XI were involved in a 1-1 draw, with Brian de Mattos getting the goal for Berko.
