Representing Great Britain, Amy finished third in her age group and was 18th female overall.

Venturing into triathlon only two years ago as a complete novice who couldn’t even swim one length of front crawl, Amy decided to take on the challenge of long distance triathlon.

After qualifying at Ironman UK in August 2013, she went on to face tough competition alongside the very best athletes in Europe.

The latest challenge, based in Almere, Netherlands, consisted of a gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km bike and a 42km run, and Amy managed to knock 1.5 hours off her personal best – reaching the finish line in a respectable time of 11 hours and 48 minutes.

Amy hopes that her time, which was less than 30 minutes away from first place and a gold medal, will qualify her for the World Long Distance Championships in 2015, which are due to be held in Sweden.

As a result of her incredible achievements over just a few years, Amy has secured a number of sponsorship deals, including Lovelo Cycle Works in Berkhamsted, Sportspace Dacorum, and Emma James Physio in Hemel Hempstead. To find out more, please visit www.amykilpin.co.uk
